Roadmap:Better registration method

One issue with the name change is that they are currently bound to the main site.

I always thought I'd make some feature that joins the main site and forum though that never came. For example, display a kanji count on the user's badge.

I am still undecided whether to "untie" the forum or not.

So 2 solutions:

A- keep forum registrations "synched" with main site, add feature into the "backend" site for moderators to be able to rename a user on the main site too, needs some work..

B- untie the forum, that would be better I feel that some users don't exepect their username to appear onto the forum or dont expect the automatic forum registration. Maybe an "opt in" for the forum account registration. Then in that case a name change on the forum or main site has no side effect. Cons: auto login would need anextra option in the user profile to link to their forum profile..

Should probably go for B

• Re-enable forum registrations
• OPTIONAL: Add an option in the main site's user profile to set their forum account name, in case it is different, to enable auto-login from the main site (requires identical passwords set on main site and forum)
• Add backend option to rename a user, accessible for forum moderators
